Coming from a long line of musicians and educators, somehow I ended up with more business skills than artistic flair - and virtually no aptitude for teaching. But I kept the conviction that the arts are a source of most of what is good and true about life. So, after getting my BA in Italian from the University of Colorado and a cultural anthropology MA from the New School, and then spending many years in various administrative positions, I finally put it all together and opened a bookstore to serve Boulder's literary and performing arts communities. Nothing is more continually engaging than the world of bookselling, buying and selling wonderful books and hanging out with people who love to read. | ||
| Julie Leonard | I'm happiest when surrounded by books, so coming to Troubadour Books each day is a joy. I've also worked in libraries, and for something completely different, as a park naturalist. Although I've never danced professionally, I've studied many styles and I tend to see the world from a dancer's point of view. Now that I'm playing viola in a community orchestra, for example, I find that working with a conductor and other musicians is largely based on physical interactions and we're really all dancing together. Plus, I've learned it's never too late to start learning a new instrument or other means of artistic expression. | ||
